Abstract :
The authors demonstrate dispersion managed soliton transmission using short-period dispersion management, which is characterised by having a dispersion management period that is much shorter than the amplification period. Simulation results indicate that by optimisation of the system parameters single channel transmission at 80 Gbit/s is possible over trans-oceanic distances
