Abstract :
Cordless telephones have traditionally offered low-power, short-range domestic and office telecommunications, whereas cellular radio has offered longer-range, public-access capabilities at a premium price. Today´s changing regulatory environment, accompanied by rapid technological developments, is beginning to offer network operators a range of new capabilities through the joint exploitation of these technologies. In this paper this changing environment is reviewed, some public-access cordless experiments are described and the future potential for dual-mode cordless-cellular integration is explored
