Timing errors in Pal colour-television signals

The paper describes some of the problems caused by timing fluctuations, or jitter, in Pal colour-television signals; it also attempts to specify the required timing stability. A method of digital timing correction for use in video tape recorders is described in principle, and the possibility of using PalN decoding to derive the digital-timing clock pulses is discussed, together with the results of practical experiments.
