Abstract :
A scheme is proposed for testing the stability of polynomial matrices. Eigenvalues with positive real parts are mapped onto the exterior of the unit circle, and instability is subsequently traced by application of the power method to the resulting matrix. The difficulties of singularity of the coefficient matrices involved are overcome, since inversions are avoided, and any sparsity can be efficiently handled.
