Abstract :
As a mathematical representation of the linguistic variable, fuzzy number theory with its applications was extensively developed. We investigate two popular representations of fuzzy numbers, symmetric-triangular and bell-shaped, and compare their arithmetic, dimensions and metrics. It is shown that, as far as linear structures are concerned, both representations are equivalent
