Abstract :
An approach to the problem of frequency conversion based on amplitude modulation of the supply voltage waveform is found to be applicable in the speed control of induction motors. A 3-phase system, singly modulated, was used to control the stator voltage and frequency of a cage motor, and halfspeed operation was obtained for a wide range of torques, including no load.
