Abstract
The characteristics of electromechanical filters for the suppression of harmonics and the supply of reactive power on the a.c. side of d.c.-link convertors are described. The problem in the design and construction of small-scale units are highlighted. Tests with the prototype filters on a model d.c. link show that stability margins are considerably improved when compared to operation with conventional static filters.
