Abstract :
Theory for optimisation of multiple-index problem aimed at achieving a compromise among state and sensitivity cost functionals is extended to distributed parameter systems. The necessary and sufficient conditions for optimality are derived. A numerical example represented by the 1-dimensional heat-conduction equation is solved to illustrate the theory developed in the paper.
