Abstract :
The new method for wind speed retrieval using the SAR spectrum is proposed. Wind speed and direction are estimated using the SAR spectrum peak corresponding to the dominant wavelength of wind waves. The numerical simulation with the quasilinear SAR imaging model was performed to illustrate the algorithm. Ambiguity +/-180° is avoided by calculating the correlation coefficient between signals at VV and VH polarizations.
