  • Abstract
    The IEEE inherited its Section structure from the AIEE (The American Institute of Electrical Engineers) which was founded in 1884. The Society and Chapter structure was perhaps inherited from the IRE (The Institute of Radio Engineers) which was founded in 1912. The two merged in 1963 to form the IEEE.
