Abstract :
A simplified theory of linear induction motors (l.i.m.s) with half-filled endslots is presented. The effect of primary-core length is taken into account by means of appropriate fictitious current sheets. Skin effect and transverse-edge effects are included by means of appropriate correction factors. Longitudinal end effect, transverse-edge effect, and skin effect are considered, and it is shown that the method presented in the paper is much simpler than any available elsewhere. A numerical illustrative example is given, and the end results are given in a simplified form. The usefulness of windings with half-filled endslots is discussed with regard to end effects.
