Abstract :
A prototype system is described which characterises engineering graphics in a limited domain. This approach uses production rules to facilitate the use of pattern matching for part features and discernment between features. By emphasising feature recognition, an independence from the rules of orthographic projection is attained. This flexibility enables the system to handle additional part representations
