Abstract :
The new breed of offshore wind turbines weigh in at 1,000 tonnes. This paper looks at the race to develop innovative foundations that can take the weight of such massive structures. From their foundations to the top of the nacelle the wind turbines will stretch a stunning 250 m-three times the height of the Statue of Liberty.
