Abstract
Employing low-frequency ultrasonic waves to map vocal tract features is a novel research area that can lead to significant applications in speech rehabilitation for voice-loss patients, and in secure/unvoiced mobile telephony. An analytical formulation is presented to extend the extremely useful tool of linear predictive analysis from the one-dimensional audible speech domain to the three-dimensional ultrasonic speech space. The mathematical and physical analyses, supported by finite-element simulation results, prove the validity of the approach.
