Abstract :
Recognizing a physical situation in text is an important factor for Human-Computer Interaction. To do this, it is necessary to extract objects and the relationships between them and to predict the situations that follow from an input situation. In this paper, we propose a novel methodology for recognizing a physical situation with physics simulation. We choose a system for solving physics questions as an example application. With this system, a solving process could be formalized as the proof procedure of formulas. In the procedure, the system simulates the situation described in the question and applies the result of the simulation to determine the truth value of predicates.
