Abstract :
Power dissipation due to various sources of air-drag in the disk drive, such as the actuator, heads, air-bearing shear forces, actuator position, and air pressure was determined for a 7200 rpm 3.5" drive. Removing or modifying specific components mode it possible to predict the limit of the airflow related losses
