Abstract
Ultrathin (Co90Fe100.21/Pt0.23)n superlattices composing of alternative CoFe and Pt monolayers were deposited by magnetron sputtering. The superlattices deposited at ultra-low sputtering power and high Ar pressure (low energy) shown perpendicular magnetic anisotropy (PMA) whereas both co-sputtered Pt-CoFe alloy film and superlattices deposited at high energy exhibited in-plane magnetic anisotropies (IMA). X-ray diffraction (xrd) and atomic force microscopy (AFM) analyses indicate the PMA was mainly contributed by the interface anisotropy at Pt/CoFe interface. The PMA constant (Ku) of (Co90Fe10/Pt)8 deposited under optimized conditions reaches to 6×106 erg/cc.
