Abstract :
At first glance, the World Wide Web (WWW), educators, and students are a natural combination. Educators at kindergarten through grade 12 (K-12) levels can send students to museums, universities, national laboratories, and foreign countries with the click of a button. Students are naturally attracted to the Web with its graphical interface, animations, and ease of use, and are usually adept with computers. Problems, however, can occur when educators open their classroom to the outside world using the Web. Problems arise both with learning to use Internet technologies in the classroom, as well as with the use of the Internet with students. The author describes some of these problems and suggests how teachers might manage them.
