  • Abstract
In response to our understanding of the physical world and increasingly complex challenges in implementing technology, a revolution in education took place in the early 20th century that gave engineering more of a scientific foundation. Whereas previously engineering had somewhat of a vocational flavor, it was now accorded the same rigor as the basic sciences, resulting in the education system that we are familiar with today.
