Abstract
For magnifying and zooming images, one needs interpolation and resolution enhancement, which extract information from an image and fill in the unknown pixel values. However, preserving the high frequency edge information poses a challenge. This paper discusses a method that performs spatial up-conversion using Adaptive Dynamic Range Coding (ADRC) with over-complete stationary wavelet transform (SWT). Simulation of the proposed ADRC Stationary Wavelet Transform (SWT-ADRC) method provides better performance compared to six other classic to cutting edge interpolation techniques in preserving high frequency edge information. Average dB improvement relative to bilinear, bicubic, and parent Kondo method for 2X upscale was (2.297, 0.994, 0.7)-dB and for 4X upscale was (1.315, 0.723, 0.3)-dB.
