Abstract :
For rectangular conductors, as found in planar transmission lines, resistance and inductive reactance deviate by some 10%, in contrast to common approximations assuming equality of both quantities. This paper discusses this effect and presents quantitative data for the practical case of a monolithic-microwave integrated-circuit coplanar waveguide.
