Abstract :
Due to contamination of the insulator surface, voltage distribution becomes non-uniform. Discharges occur at the joints causing deterioration in the mechanical strength. Laboratory simulation of such a discharge occurring at the joints of a polycone insulator was made and the efficacy of the various coatings of paints and resins was evaluated.
