Design of magnetic recording and playback amplifiers

Magnetic recording and playback amplifiers are different from the voltage amplifiers. These amplifiers need equalization networks. Besides equalization network, recording amplifier needs a high frequency oscillator for basing and erasing purpose. Design considerations of magnetic recording and playback amplifiers are discussed in this paper. Circuit details and the frequency response of recording and playback amplifiers are given. One single record/playback amplifier circuit is discussed. The overall performance of the complete system is very satisfactory.
