Abstract :
Assuming a given distribution of surface currents on the antenna, an approximate theory of radiation from a dielectric-coated spherically-tipped conducting cone antenna excited in the TM symmetric mode has been derived. Expressions for the radiation patterns and the gain of the antenna have been derived. The calculated radiation patterns and gain of several antennas of different dimensions have been experimentally verified in the X-band-The input impedance of the antennas has also been measured.
