Abstract
The authors describe a contextual analysis algorithm for the analysis of entered Arabic characters that selects a proper shape for them before displaying them on the screen. The 7-bit ASMO 449 code standard and the reduced-character Amtan keyboard are selected for implementing the Arabic system. The analyzer simplifies the user interaction with the Arabic system by reducing the number of shapes of characters to be handled. The Arabic character generator is designed as a font structure based on 8 by 8 dot matrix pixels for different Arabic character shapes
