Abstract :
The paper presents the recent advances in the modeling of metamaterial transmission lines loaded with split ring resonators (SRRs). After considering several improvements to the original model of a CPW loaded with pairs of SRRs presented in 2003, such as mixed (electric and magnetic) coupling between the line and the rings, and the effects of coupling between resonators of adjacent cells (bandwidth enhancement through the presence of complex modes), the focus here is to analyze the effects of coupling between the SRRs forming the pair in each unit cell. Thus, a model that considers magnetic coupling between the line and the rings, as well as magnetic coupling between the pair of rings, is presented and analyzed. The model is validated through preliminary results inferred from full wave electromagnetic simulation.
