Abstract :
Container terminals are complex systems where many interrelated operations have to be conducted to achieve the best possible throughput and customers´ satisfaction. Simulation models of such systems have to be based on suitable modelling paradigm. The paper presents utilisation of agent-based architecture ABAsim for creation of two-layer agent model of container terminal operation that reflects the hierarchical structure of the modelled system. Brief description of all employed model agents and their mutual cooperation and communication is provided. Presented model has been successfully implemented and integrated into existing transportation terminal simulation tool Villon.
