  • Abstract
Around the World, Natural disasters such as earthquakes, floods, tornados, ice storms, tsunamis, and wildfires produce devastating effects on electric power system operation as well as on the well being of the affected country. The loss of electricity for extended periods has far-reaching effects, as most infrastructures are dependant on electricity. The complexity of power systems offers a challenge to maintaining a highly reliable operation in normal conditions, and that challenge increases many-fold following a natural disaster.
