Abstract :
The paper discusses briefly the practice that has been followed in the past to meet the requirements of antenna feeders for transmitting stations of medium and high power. It is concluded that, with higher operating frequencies, the use of cables for this purpose has both technical and economic advantages. Designs of semi-rigid and flexible cables, which have recently been introduced, are described, with details of their mechanical and electrical characteristics, particular emphasis being placed on electrical uniformity as an important requirement for broad-band transmission such as television. A comprehensive range of accessories for use with these cables is also described.
