Abstract :
A seven-step systematic approach for successfully applying adjustable speed drives (ASDs) to large power plant motors is presented. The seven steps are: preliminary study for retrofit economics; detailed analysis and budget preparation; budget approval; design engineering; installation; start-up; and post start-up tests for ASD evaluation. A discussion of each step is presented
