Abstract :
An investigation of the dielectric heating of a number of vulcanized and unvulcanized rubber mixes is described. The unvulcanized material is of an industrial type, whilst the vulcanized compounds contain zinc oxide of known particle size, shape, and dispersion. It is verified that the behaviour of the mixes in a dielectric heater agrees reasonably well with that predicted by theory. The heat function, ¿, as defined by Elvy, is calculated.
