  • Abstract
    The microprocessor-based protection for high-voltage magnetically controlled shunt reactor (MCSR) is presented in this paper. Protection schemes comprise working winding protection, control winding protection, compensation winding protection and backup protection. Along with discussing the overall protective schemes, the focus of this paper has placed on the control winding protection, which is an essential part of the overall MCSR protection, on the basis of fault characteristic analysis. Careful protection considerations that required due to the particular feature of MCSR are also discussed in each part.
