Abstract :
This paper contains a description of the recently-opened Power Networks Demonstration Centre (PNDC) at the University of Strathclyde, and shows how the centre can accelerate the development and testing of protection, control and automation technologies. The paper describes the facilities available in the centre, its capabilities, and how it aligns with and facilitates the strategies of utilities, academics, manufacturers and regulators to increase innovation within the industry. The paper includes an overview of on-going and future projects with a focus on power system protection.
