Abstract :
This article presents a brief description of closed-loop tests and tools for their implementation. The main emphasis in article is on the principle of operation of closed-loop simulation for protective relays and the particular construction of built real-time simulator. Selected test results of distance relay (made with built simulator) have also been shown. The hardware part of the simulator using PC platform consists of: two PCI-1720 cards, one PCI-1750 card, CMS 156 amplifier, circuit matching the input and output signals and the PC which the are installed in. The software part of the simulator includes the following software installed for control of its operation: the MATLAB/Simulink software with SimPowerSystems and Real-Time Windows Target (RTWT) toolboxes for modeling part of the power system, which will affect the behavior of the protective relay during testing, the C++ compiler which is required for proper cooperation of PCI-1720 and PCI-1750 cards with the RTWT toolbox.
