Abstract :
This paper aims to look closely at the role of directional overcurrent (DOC) protection and investigate options for modifying the existing schemes or settings in the context of reverse power flow constraints for accommodating distributed generation in distribution networks. It will also consider alternative solutions and assess their suitability and impact from a technical perspective. The paper will share the UK Power Networks experience and decisions to deal with the reverse power flow issues in an area of Cambridgeshire, UK, as part of the Flexible Plug and Play project [1].
