Abstract
Cathode-ray tube displays for industrial television, radar and facsimile systems need phosphors having a very wide range of colour, texture and persistence. The characteristics of these phosphors are discussed, with particular emphasis upon those for use in high-resolution and low scanning speed displays. A recently developed combination of phosphors enables images to be stored for several minutes before presentation by controlling the persistence with infra-red radiation.
