Abstract
This paper presents a study of the AC 2 × 25 kV-50-Hz system for the train power supply, giving a valid instrument for better design of the future railway lines. In fact, different constructive solutions, such as the autotransformer short-circuit voltage, can influence the correct working of the system. The analysis of the real currents distribution between the 2 × 25-kV system branches is presented, overcoming the circuital simplifications adopted in the traditional studies that have now been documented in the literature. The study is validated through simulation and in-field measurements.
