Abstract
This paper describes some of the properties of an electronically scanned receiving system at very high scanning rates. The basic principles of the system are applicable to either an electromagnetic or an acoustic receiving aerial system, but the particular system described here relates to a microwave aerial in the 3 cm band, and is capable of scanning rates up to 1 Mc/s. The possible application of these principles to ¿within-pulse¿ scanning echo-ranging systems is also discussed.
