Abstract :
A new type of rotary magnetic refrigerator using annular Nd-Fe-B permanent magnets as the source of the magnetic field is proposed here. Its magnetic field at the air gap is about 1.2 T. Gadolinium (Gd) based magnetocaloric rare earth material is utilized as the refrigerants in this device. The structure of the device and the torque of the driving motor were carefully designed and selected. This rotor of refrigerator is enclosed in the annular magnet, so it can run stably. This work is referential to the progresses for the room temperature magnetic refrigeration.
