Abstract
Better utilization of engineering staff and a reduction of development time can be achieved by a new grade of labour which serves as a link between development engineers and the drawing office. These ¿translators¿ convert circuit diagrams and associated component schedules into wiring and component legend layouts for printed wiring boards. The choice of standards, method of translation, and the type of machinery which was specially designed for the automatic punching of holes, assembly of components, and soldering of boards, will be discussed.
