Abstract :
A software-based method for obtaining high quality colour single frames from a PAL signal is described. A two-dimensional finite impulse response (FIR) digital filter extracts the subcarrier from the composite source. Chrominance demodulation is by orthogonal free-running subcarriers followed by vector rotation of the U and V components by reference to the demodulated burst vector. The system is also applicable to NTSC
