Abstract :
The effect of RF phase noise on the performance of quadrature amplitude modulated (QAM) fibre optic links is investigated using a Taylor series approximation. The use of a Taylor expansion reduces the computation time by a factor of more than 103. Simulation results obtained for 64- and 256-QAM systems agree with the conventional performance computation techniques
