Abstract :
In this paper Sliding Mode Control (SMC) strategies are proposed for controller design of Unified Power Flow Controller (UPFC). The State-Space model of UPFC connected to a Single Machine Infinite Bus (SMIB) system is considered. Sliding Surface is designed by using regular form approach. Gao´s reaching laws are applied to the state-space model of the system considered and the results are compared with each other. It is seen that the Gao´s power rate reaching law is giving appropriate results. Simulation results thus obtained and comparison made by application of different strategies; using MATLAB and Simulink are presented.
