Abstract :
The Japaneese Broadcasting Corporation´s 1125-line HDTV system is described. Multiple sub-Nyquist sampling encoding is employed to achieve bandwidth compression of the time-division multiplexed signal used to convey luminance and colour information. Details are given of the system performance with particular reference to the effects of picture movement and resolution and noise.
