Abstract :
The author briefly outlines the work of Kunihiko Iwadare who worked for Thomas Edison in the Schenectady Works. He left of his own volition and returned to Japan where he joined Osaka Electric Light Company, overseeing their first installation of 500 lamp alternators. Later he started his own business of selling lighting and power machines and supplies. In 1898, with a friend, he founded the Nippon Electric Company.
