An l.s.i.-based p.c.m. processor for high-quality sound transmission

The BBC has embarked on a new design for a digital sound coding system. It uses a gate array and standard v.l.s.i. components to achieve a reduction in size and power consumption when compared to a previous design which was based on `conventional¿ logic components.
