Abstract
The methods used to carry out physico-chemical diagnostics of high-voltage SF 6 insulated equipment during active use of the equipment have been described. Because inspection can be made to determine the condition of the insulation without interrupting the power being supplied, the diagnostic methods described are very attractive. Use of these diagnostic methods in Russia have shown that the current state of the apparatus can be determined and an estimation obtained on the amount of life left in the apparatus.
