Abstract
The problems of and the procedures for planning the replacement of the control and instrumentation equipment on an operational nuclear power station are outlined. The major refurbishments carried out at the Hinkley Point `A¿ station are described. These include replacement of the burst can etection and reactor temperature monitoring equipment, turbine instrumentation, boiler drum level control and stack monitoring equipment.
