  • Abstract
This paper presents the design and development of microcontroller based peristaltic pump which is used to pump different types of fluids at different rates. The basic principle, construction and working of peristaltic pump are also discussed in this paper. The whole system is built around advanced 32 bit, low-power RISC processor architecture ARM7TDMI (LPC2148). The microcontroller controls the stepper motor which in turn controls the rate of delivery of the liquid. The hardware and software are developed in the laboratory using off the shelf components. The hardware is integrated on a general purpose PCB; software is developed in embedded C in order to rotate the stepper motor at different stepping angles with different speeds. The entire system is calibrated for different flow rates. The system developed in the laboratory is inexpensive, simple and reliable. The aim of the design is to carry out the automatic potentiometric titration for the pH measurement of acid base titrations which is a part of future study.
