Abstract
This paper presents an extensive performance study on a variable inductor, of which the gap is filled with magnetorheological fluids. Using Taguchi´s design of experiment method, the effects on two different inductance responses of variable inductors are assessed in terms of three design parameters relating to the amount of fluids used. The predicted best parameter settings are verified through both numerical and experimental tests.
